"The Trumpet of the Swan," produced and directed by Latter-day Saint animation director Richard Rich, opened this week in 37th place, making over $100,000 in its initial weekend. Interestingly enough, "Trumpet" stars Mary Steenburgen (the voice of the main swan's mother). Steenburgen is not a Latter-day Saint, but she received an Academy Award for playing the role of a Latter-day Saint character -- Lynda Dummar in the 1980 film "Melvin and Howard." Ms. Steenburgen also has a starring role in the upcoming movie "Life as a House" (2002), which was written by Mark Andrus.
